OrecX Uses Real Time Transfer Protocol Tapping to Offer More Choice in Low-Cost Call Recording
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS and MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 30, 2008) - OrecX, a provider of low-cost open source VoIP call recording, now offers customers another choice for low-cost TDM and call recording, leveraging and Sangoma(R) Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC) new Wanpipe(R) driver that supports RTP tapping.

"Overall, Sangoma's RTP tapping solution gives more choice for situations where TDM and VoIP are blended," said Bruce Kaskey, CEO of OrecX. "The Wanpipe driver with the RTP tap mode enabled converts a TDM signal to VoIP seamlessly for scalable recording."

By sending duplicate RTP streams over Ethernet, Sangoma's Wanpipe(R) drivers eliminate recording loads on the voice server that are CPU and disk intensive. This enables OrecX to support flawless voice recording of large numbers of simultaneous calls on dedicated recording servers.

The conversion is purely Linux based, and is done at the kernel level. It's a complete open source package that enables customers to record either VoIP or TDM without buying any additional hardware.

Using Wanpipe for line tapping eliminates the need for a proprietary box. The solution is integrated with an API specific to the operating system. By eliminating integration points, recording can cost one-tenth the price.

Ultimately, it's seamless flexibility for customers. "We have a major customer with a blended situation of TDM and VoIP," Kaskey explained. "They wanted to be able to tap TDM and or VOIP using their existing Sangoma equipment, and now they can."
